Aervwen is gorgeous. He makes men envious and women drool. Picture, if you will, a lithe, muscled body clad in tight leather pants and a loose open shirt, standing with an air of confidence, his exquisitely-molded face bearing a serious, philosophical expression speaking of great wisdom, yet with features firm and youthful, and sleek, dark blueish-green hair falling down past his shoulders. Slightly pointed ears peek through his hair, long bangs falling over his cheeks. A bit rough around the edges, more at home on a shady forest path than in the city. Clean-shaven, smooth-skinned, utterly gorgeous. There you have Aervwen. Just consider him the aloof bishounen dropped into the gritty fantasy world. As Aervwen is quarter-elven, he ages more slowly than humans. Though he's 42, he appears in his mid-twenties.

Aervwen was born to a human mother and a dark (half) elf father. His father died not long after his birth; Aervwen did not know the man. His childhood was not a particularly happy one, as Aervwen's elven blood cast him as an outcast, and Aervwen's mother struggled to support them both. Since there was nothing for him in the city, Aervwen started spending a great deal of time in the surrounding woods. Eventually Aervwen grew up enough to get a job working for the duke as a ranger patrolling the duke's forests. Not long after, Aervwen's mother remarried and gave birth to a second son, Torvwyn, but Aervwen's new stepfather was a lout of man who drank and hit their mother. She left him, taking her sons with her. Things were fine for a while until Aervwen's mother fell ill with a wasting disease. She was dead within a year, leaving Aervwen, then just thirty, to care for Torvwyn and raise him. Torvwyn grew up very close to his elder brother and to the world of the castle. Torvwyn soon found work in the castle library as a researcher and lived happily with his brother for several years. Then, around the same time as a stranger named Daerinnid de Soto came to the castle, a secret chamber was discovered in the Rakkel sewers. Both Aervwen and Torvwyn accompanied Izak Seltimbar, advisor to the duke, and investigated. They became the two primary secret-keepers of the chamber's existence. [Spoilers]
Aervwen usually wears tight leather pants and loose shirt open to reveal his chest. Possibly because he knows how gorgeous he is, possibly because he's not big on constrictive clothing, probably a combination of both. He usually wear leather bracers to tie back his shirt sleeves. Sometimes he accents his outfits with vests. He wears knee-high boots, as he's often on horseback or trekking through the underbrush.
