Physical Description

Tory has his own sort of humble good looks. His large, doe-like brown eyes are honest and expressive. You can always tell his true emotions by looking at his eyes. He looks well-fed and healthy-- well, maybe a tiny tad bit too well-fed. His face is oval in shape with well-proportioned everything, topped off with a shock of full, straw-colored hair. His hair has a sort of neat messiness to it: it looks like every strand is just naturally in its place. If anything, he looks rather plain, even nondescript. He was probably very pretty when he was around the age of twelve. Aside from a very minor case of acne that creeps up every couple of months, he is free from blemishes. When he blushes, his whole body seems to turn red.

So there you have it. Plain, slightly nervous, generally nice and approachable.


Personality

Torvwyn is almost painfully shy. He's very sensitive and nervous, always worried what other people will think of him or if he's doing something right. He's one of those genuinely nice people who tend to get walked over a lot. Though he spends most of his time in his office in the library, he's not a loner. He enjoys the company of a few close friends, particularly Aervwen, Rikard, or Shizuka.


History/Background

Torvwyn was his mother's second child, the product of a remarriage and preceded by an older brother named Aervwen. His earliest years were tumultuous; his parents, both on their second marriage (having been a widow and a widower) did not get along and separated not long after his birth. His elder brother and his mother worked to support their small family until his mother fell ill and died, leaving Torvwyn in the care of Aervwen, then thirty and working at the castle. Torvwyn grew up very close to his elder brother. He found employment in the castle working in the library and spent several years in relative happiness. Then, around the same time as a stranger named Daerinnid de Soto came to the castle, a secret chamber was discovered in the Rakkel sewers. Both Aervwen and Torvwyn accompanied Izak Seltimbar, advisor to the duke, and investigated. They became the two primary secret-keepers of the chamber's existence and Torvwyn became head researcher on the investigation to uncover the secrets behind the chamber.

Not long after that, another stranger arrived in town: Rikard Prowley. Aervwen took a disliking to Rikard almost immediately. Torvwyn, on the other hand, found someone he could share his scholarly interests with and became close friends with Rikard. Later, they became more. Rikard began to help Torvwyn with the chamber research, but Aervwen despised Rikard so greatly that he leaked secrets about the chamber to his paternal grandfather, Fox, who in turn brought the secrets to the mage Drascull. Because of this, Aervwen and Torvwyn had a huge falling out. They no longer live under the same roof.

Notable friends:

  • Rikard Prowley - Torvwyn's boyfriend and fellow researcher. Rikard's a brash, impulsive jerk with no scruples. Torvwyn keeps him in check most of the time, thank goodness.
  • Meepo, aka Patrik Prowley - A small goblin Rikard picked up and has grown rather attached to. Rikard taught Meepo how to speak English. Meepo considers Rikard to be his master; Rikard considers Meepo to be like a little brother. A very little brother. Rikard used the name Patrik Prowley to avoid suspicion from the guards.
  • Aervwen - Torvwyn's older brother, a quarter-elf ranger. Rikard and Aervwen don't get along very well, but they've forged an uneasy truce because they both like Meepo.
  • Shizuka - Cheery, tone-deaf assassin whose antics resulted in heaps of trouble. Shizuka always means well, he just can never live up to his intentions.
  • Izak Seltimbar - Torvwyn's employer, the duke's right-hand man.

  • Torvwyn is a Morgausite because the head researcher, who was Torvwyn's primary teacher, was a Morgausite.
