Tips for DU Applicants

Well, since we've been getting DU apps, I want to go over some info DU applicants might find important.

First off, the DU is not some kind of Galactic Empire. It's not a Federation of Planets. It's a universe, a whole universe where people have the same basic ideals. I'm not saying people are the same, merely the foundations upon which life exists in the DU entail the three main DU aspects: darkness, order, and evil. (Note: these are not necessarily literal interpretations of these words. See Secrets of the Dark Universe for more info.)

This doesn't mean that the DU doesn't have empires in it. Generally, after millions of years, each galaxy is completely controlled by a single ubergovernment. There are about 500 galaxies in the DU, though. Chances are your character's homeplanet or system belongs to such a government, though chances are also really good that your character's home system is NOT the center of this government.

Which brings me to another point. The DU never lost its senshi. In the DU, senshism is millions of years old, as are most DU institutions (like the aforementioned ubergovernments). Senshism is also noticeably genetic in nature, so senshi are in some way related to previous senshi on their planet of origin. They might be the offspring, they might be cousins, they might be several times removed from the previous senshi, but they've somehow got a similar

No joke. See, back when I created Demantoid, I hadn't yet read this little book. It's called the Science of Aliens by Clifford A. Pickover. Pick up a copy if you run into it and you'll see why my second DU senshi has three legs, no eyes, and is about the size of a large dog. Seriously, go out to your local library or order a copy from Amazon. It's not expensive. Then read the book. I own a copy of the book, so I don't want to see any exact replicas of the species featured inside, but let yourself be inspired! AND DON'T SUBMIT HUMANOID SENSHI!
