There once was a television show and comic book by the name of Sailor Moon. It starred a group of five Sailor-suited girls who fought evil, and was insanely popular. These five girls were joined by more Sailor-suited warriors and an array of evil villains whom they fought.

This is not that show.

Sailor Myth is a role-playing game based off that show and comic book, but it requires no background on the series. None of those original characters exist in the Sailor Myth universe. In fact, none of the events in Sailor Moon took place. Here is the Sailor Myth story.

Millions of years ago, the universe was created, and a single being was entrusted with it's care -- the Universalis Senshi. The Universalis Senshi spread life across the galaxy on every planet possible, and endowed certain people with the power to protect the life force of the universe. They were known as the Astronomia Senshi.

Besides this dimension, known as the Light Universe, there also existed the Dark Universe. This universe was similarly created by the Dark Universalis Senshi and existed as a balance to the Light Universe. For many years these two universes were perfectly peaceful, until a huge war erupted, destroying most of the life in the Light Universe. In the end, the Astronomia Senshi and the Universalis Senshi were able to preserve what little life remained by sacrificing themselves to close the link to the Dark Universe. This measure was not permanent, however.

As time passed, life began to reemerge across the Light Universe and the senshi started to return. Without the guidance of the Universalis Senshi, these new senshi were petty and fought amongst themselves on a planet known as Earth. They called themselves gods. Eventually, they destroyed one another, leaving Earth devoid of senshi once again.

Such a void could not remain empty forever, and as the life force on Earth grew stronger and stronger, the return of the senshi became inevitable.

That was then. This is now.

Something has stirred the sleeping spirits of the senshi into action. The life force of the universe has reached a critical mass and the return of the link to the Dark Universe is at hand. Dead senshi are being resurrected into animals and humans on Earth, and the wars have begun anew.

The life force of the Light Universe may never truly recover to its heights in the ages past. Many of the senshi of long ago will never return, as all of the people who populated their planet or star system have long since died away. Only one percent will ever reawaken. The universe's only hope is that this one percent will be able to survive the trials to come.
