Senshi: Ariel, Senshi of Earth.*
*his powers aren't easily pigeonholed; see "What is your angel/Why?" for more details.
Emiko: Yay! Our first Angelus Senshi!
Perdix: Oh, joy.
Rach: He? Aren't senshi females? o.O;;, this guy is a Kamen mon ami.
Perdix: As I understand it, "senshi" just means warrior. Regardless, senshi is the term used for people with magic transforming powers in this rpg, regardless of gender.
Earth Name: Amir Adham
Meaning: Prince of Earth
Emiko: Niftypoo.
Rach: I thought Darien in the original Sailor Moon nabbed that one too. Oh well!
Perdix: I think his was "Protector of Earth..." "Chi" is earth, and "mamoru" related to protection... Erm, something like that.
Age: 19
Birthdate: November 8
Astrological Sign: Scorpio
Blood Type: AB
Family:
Mother- Sheba Adham, 42, housewife. Likes to garden, and spends long hours tending to her flowers, her vegetables, and her mulch heap. Is fascinated by
American soap operas.
Emiko: Much like Tibby.
Perdix: Quiet, you. Tibby's not a member yet.
Though she can read, write, and generally comprehend English with great fluency, she still retains her Saudi accent and will pretend to be ignorant, if it's in her best interests
Emiko: Smart woman. It's sad the opinions Americans have about foreigners and the things they'll say if they think a foreigner is ignorant...
Father- Abd-al-Hadi Adham, 46, electrical engineer. Works at the power plant which supplies energy to the area. He has passed his love for mathematics and knowledge on to his son, Amir. He has a quick mind and a clever wit, and no trace remains of his accent. He has a great love for providing for his family, and makes a concerted effort to be there for his wife and children.
Brother- Bekir Adham, age 15. He has been inspired by his father to become someone great and of importance-- but he does not have the attention span to
pursue a goal long enough to become proficient. He can be moody, cynical, and caustic when things don't go right in his life, and is given to
self-pity. He can be quite charming to strangers, but hangs out with the wrong crowd, much to the annoyance of Amir.
Brother- Omar Adham, age 13. He's quite shy, looks up to Amir, but is intimidated by Bekir. He loves his clarinet lessons, and is currently in the
junior high school band. His dream is to play in the high school marching band, and eventually in a university orchestra. Bekir mocks his love of
music, causing Omar to be defensive about it. In his other studies, however, Omar is easily bored and neglects his homework. He's generous, prone to
being taken advantage of, tends to get lost in his daydreams at times, and can't say 'no'.
Emiko: Tibby has two brothers, too.
Perdix: Shut up about your character! We're not here for that! >.<
School: A sophomore at Virginia Tech, majoring in computer science.
Emiko: VT! Yay!
Likes: Computers, computer programming, image editing, keeping late hours, and burning CDs for his friends in exchange for "favors".
Emiko: I like CD burning. ^^
Perdix: ARGH!! You insufferable WOMAN! I'm trying to read!
Emik: Eeps! Calm down, Perdy. You sound like Wufei. Anyway, so far I like this app.
Dislikes: Going for more than an hour without checking his e-mail,
Emiko: Ha!
Perdix: So you're not the only person with that particular obsessive compulsive trait... I sincerely hope it's not contagious.
the fact that most stores aren't open at 2 AM, loud parties in the apartment complex,
his neighbor's pet terrier.
Fav. Food: Amir's a sucker for anything Italian.
Rach: Italian! YUM!
Hated Food: Ethiopian cuisine.
Emiko: I really like the app so far.
Fav. Subject: Anything math or computer related
Hated Subject: Literature-- Amir dislikes reading anything not on a screen or printout.
Color: Dark red.
Emiko: Like Ravi!
Perdix: Indian red might be a shade lighter than dark red... Or a shade darker...
Hobbies: Programming, rebuilding computers,
Aspirations: Wishes to become a programming mogul.
Gemstone: Garnet
History:
Amir was born in Roanoke, the first son of Abd-al-Hadi and Sheba Adham. They had immigrated to Virginia two years before, from Saudi Arabia. Four years
later, he had a younger brother, and then two years after that, another brother-- but Amir was always "the oldest son", and therefore special.
He enjoyed a relatively good childhood, only made noticable by the considerable drive he showed. Amir was always treated as a small adult,
rather than a child, and so he matured very quickly. This sometimes alienated him from his peers, and he frequently became annoyed by and fed up
with their immature ways. He had a love of learning and knowledge, instilled in him by his father, which further segregated him from other students his
age-- it was a rare occasion his name wasn't listed on the "Straight-A" Honor Roll.
Emiko: I like this guy. Kindred spirit. Well, except that my being treated maturely at a young age backfired and caused me to regress.
Perdix: So that's why I seem to spend all of my reviewing yelling at you...
Amir has always had a very good sense of self-identity, mostly stemming from the sort of childhood he led. He also has a strong work ethic, again from his father. His mother would read to him, care for him, and generally be a mother to him, but somehow, it was Amir's father who ended up influencing Amir the most.
Emiko: He really reminds me of Tibby. I know, I know. Shut up.
Amir is currently a sophomore at Virginia Tech. He's a brilliant student, and his professors expect much from him in life. He has no interest in a relationship at the moment, although he is admired by several girls. He just isn't willing to put in the time or the effort into a relationship-- not to mention, he has made up his mind that relationships are boring and constrictive. He is taking 17 hours this semester, and works in the computer lab. Recently, he became aware of his senshi powers.
Percy: KAMEN! Kamen powers! Are Kamen's even in this game? o.O;;.
Rach: Percy, I'm reviewing! Not you! Shoo! Anyway, how did he become aware? Did a little pickle tell him or something? But mayhap you explain in the sample story, so I am not gonna count off or anything till then.
Perdix: Hey, Percy, if you want to go off and make your own, weak, all-female team, go do it! *I'm* the one in charge, after all!
Emiko: That's mean, Perdy. Everyone knows girls are better than boys. Waitaminute-- WHOSE team???
Personality/Behavior
Amir has a quick, analytical mind, and is versatile and imaginative. He revels in hard work, as the results are worth it. He has good intuition, and
is very influential with his friends, who frequently ask him for advice. He's caring towards his younger brothers, when he goes home to visit them,
and is concerned about the direction Bekir's life is taking.
However, independence and the urge for progress is overwhelming in him, and he can easily grow impatient if he feels his life is moving too slowly. He's
quite happy as long as he feels he's making progress, but once he feels restricted somehow, it makes him nervous and moody, causing him to be
belligerent even towards his closest friends. The monotony of routine has a
similar effect on him, and Amir hates to bother himself with details. Rather, he knows what he wants--- and he expects what he does to be
sufficient. The details should take care of themselves, and when they don't, he's very annoyed.
He's learned to not be *too* outspoken or opinionated-- bad experiences in high school has taught him to tread more carefully than he once did. Because
of his drive, his family knows he has a brilliant career ahead of him, and their pampering has rather spoiled him. However, despite these shortcomings,
Amir is generally looked up to as a Someone.
Amir is a techie, with a keen business sense. There are few students in the apartment house who *don't* owe him a favor of one sort or another, and Amir
prefers to keep it that way. He works in the computer lab at Virginia Tech, and would be lost without his computer.
Emiko: I enjoyed the personality.
Appearance
Amir has black hair and large, dark brown eyes which are very expressive. His skin is a dark tan. He's 5'7" tall, 148 pounds,
Perdix: Normal weight.
Rach: A normal weighted person! YOU RULE! Kudos for you!
and is of medium build bordering on the wiry. He has large hands with long fingers, and is very good at small, delicate work. He has a soft appearance about him-- his eyes, his skin, his hair, although Amir isn't particularly someone who would be good to bully or try to take advantage of. (He has a number of Very Large Friends who "owe him one" regarding the first, and he's neither stupid enough nor nice enough to fall prey to the second.) He has a perpetually-intent air about him, as though what you have to say is the most interesting thing in the world. His voice is rather soft, and his movements are catlike and fluid.
Leta: *Drools*
Rach: WHY DO ALL MY CHARACTERS KEEP POPPING UP! GO AWAY!
Perdix: We only pop up because we are superior to our creators.
Emiko: Shut up, Perdy. Um, I wonder how long his hair is? Something seems unfinished, but it looks okay.
Fuku
As Ariel, he wears a white robe which reaches all the way to his feet. Over this
undertunic, he wears a long garnet-red vest which slightly passes his knees. It is belted at the waist by a dark green sash, whose ends dangle
down. On his head, he wears a white Arabian cloth headpiece, held in place by a dark red band. On his feet, he wears silver Persian slippers. The edges
of his sleeves and the hem of his robe are embroidered with silver thread.
Emiko: Simple but pretty. And easy to draw, methinks. I like.
Transformation
"Ariel Angelus Power, Make-Up!"
Perdix: Ha ha, he uses "Make Up!"
Amir places his palms together at chest height. He makes a deep bow, and keeping his left hand on his chest, he holds his right hand to his side, balled into a fist at waist level. Within his fist now appears the Staff of Ariel, a silver staff as long as he is tall. The gems activate, glowing with green energy which courses in a triangular pattern around the top of the staff. He raises this staff into the air, as high as he can reach. With a brilliant burst of light, the energy encompasses Amir. When it fades, Amir is now dressed as Ariel. Large feathered angel-wings appear upon his back, then disappear in a shimmer of silver and white. Ariel stands with his feet spread slightly apart, holding the staff to his right side, grasping it with both hands.
Emiko: Pretty!
The Staff of Ariel: A silver staff as long as he is tall. It is ornately engraved with magical, mystic markings. At the top, it separates into three individual points, set to create a triangle. Each point has a dark green orb embedded at the top. Whenever Ariel draws upon his powers, each of these glow, and they create a connecting stream of energy. Beneath the trident-end are nine golden streamers which dangle a third of the way down the Staff's length.
Rach: Wow... cool! I like your descriptions!
Emiko: Good description. I can see it.
Powers:
* The angel Ariel's powers deal with water, wind, curing disease, doling out punishment, and controlling demons. Again, see "What is your angel/Why?" for
more details.
Emiko: Yepperoonie, can't wait to see that...
Power #1: Taamir is a demon of the Djinn tribe, whose punishment it is to be a slave for ten thousand years. Taamir is bound to the central stone in the Staff of Ariel, as Djinn are bound to objects and not to people. Ariel uses Taamir to investigate circumstances, gather energy, and provide distractions. The energy gathered is stored inside the gems of the Staff.
Emiko: Um, so... Is this like a demon that manifests or something he calls upon that gives him farsight?
Power #2: "Ariel Sirocco Archon!" Ariel raises the Staff of Ariel and strikes it down, hard, upon the ground. He rocks it in a circular motion, and a whirlwind sweeps up from the base. He then points at his target, and a blast of wind, momentarily taking the shape of a female angel (seen by the dust that is raised), lashes out with winds up to 70 mph. It can be blocked by a second-level barrier, or an second-level earth-or-wind based attack.
Emiko: Now I'm confused... second-level?
Perdix: I understand it, even if you don't. The only question I'd have is if that's on a level-one-is-best scale or higher-levels-is-best scale. Because if we were ranking as first level is best, then Sophie would be second level, but if it were high level is best, Sophie would be level three, because there are two levels below her. Or does that just mean second level as in Super senshi form?
Emiko: You don't understand! But level stuff aside, neat attack. And it's fine.
Power #3: "Archon Water Reflection!" Ariel passes his Staff over a preexisting water source-- such as a creek, a pond, a fountain, a swimming pool, a running faucet-- and then swings it so that it points in front of him. The water leaps away from its source, and assumes the shape of a female angel made entirely of water. She puts herself into the path of an oncoming attack, catching it in her hands. She gathers up the energy, then sends it hurtling back towards the thrower. She can return a first-level water attack at 90% of its full force; a wind attack at 60%; an earth attack at 50%; and a fire attack at 10%. For second-level attacks, the power is reduced by one half (45%, 30%, 25%, 5%). For third level attacks, it's only at a quarter of the level (23%, 15%, 13%, and 3%). The rest of the energy is absorbed into the water, and the greater the amount absorbed, the higher the chances of the archon getting shredded.
Rach: Jeeze, this guy sure does know his math!
Perdix: Okay, so higher level is better. I understand completely.
Emiko: No you don't. But I like this attack, too.
Power #4: "Angelic Cure!" Ariel places his hand over a wound or the location of some physical ailment, and concentrates. He is able to completely heal one person a day. However, he cannot heal himself with any great degree of success, unless he's sent Taamir out to gather energy specifically for that purpose.
Emiko: Then Taamir is a separate entity with an appearance of some sort?
Guardian:
Kefira is a tawny-colored cat.
Percy: C-cat? AHHH! *Runs and hides*
Rach: Oy vey. Anyway, cats. Haven't those been done a couple hundred times? You better have a good reason! *Reads on*You have a good reason, never mind!
Emiko: And it's not cats that are overdone. We don't have any. It's BIRDS.
(Kefira means "lioness"; Ariel means "lioness of God".) Once, she was a wind spirit; now her soul has been reborn into a
cat's body. She's creative and imaginiative, yet restless that her present form does not allow her to make that creativity a reality. She's independent
and easily frustrated by other people's slowness and shortcomings. She
always has to be channeling her energies into a constant, driving force.
Emiko: Didn't I decide that Astronomia guardians would be saints?
Perdix: Did you post it on the page?
Emiko: Oops. Nevermind. New incentive! Join as an Angelus and you can pick your guardian name out of thin air!
Perdix: I'm going to hurt you, Emi.
She has her memories of her spirit life, and was drawn to Amir to awaken him, recognizing the spirit of Ariel lurking inside him. Ariel, who had had
command over the wind as part of his duties, had once been her commander. She has now taken it upon herself to find and reawaken the other Angelus
Senshi. She can communicate telepathically with them, but cannot speak physically. In order for her voice to have any impact on them-- as opposed
to the people she speaks with merely thinking they're having strange, random thoughts-- she must be able to see them.
*I hadn't planned on having a guardian, and I didn't plan on making it a cat-- but it made more sense than anything else I could think of. I doubt a
lioness would be prowling the wilds of Virginia. ^_^*
Emiko: Hey, cat is fine! Just NO MORE BIRDS!
Perdix: Wait a minute here! CAT IS NOT FINE! Cats eat birds! Especially flightless ones!
Emiko: *Hawks* eat cats AND flightless birds.
Perdix: HELLLPPPP!!!!
What is your angel? Why did you pick it?
ARIEL - Ranks as one of the 7 princes who rule the waters and is "Earth's Great Lord." In occult writings, he is the "3rd archon of the winds." He is
also the angel who assists Raphael in the cure of disease. He is in charge of punishment in the lower wordl, controls demons, and is ruler of winds. In
practical cabala he is regarded as originally of the order of virtues. He is known to be a conglomerate of Anael and Uriel, a sprite, and a rebel
angel, according to different sources.
Why Chosen: (a) No Angel Senshi were listed yet;
Emiko: Didn't I link to a nice big list?
Perdix: You did, but on the Resource page, not the characters page. Anyway, Ariel's listed, so don't have a cow.
Emiko: Okay, I won't. I'll have partridge instead. ::brandishes a knife::
(b) Ariel is varied enough so that there are many different ways to develop him.
Emiko: Goooood idea.
He's not easily pigeonholed into one power, and the powers he does have are varied enough to
make him a good opponent.

Writing Sample
Amir bent over his keyboard, his fingers flying quickly over the keys. There
was a knock at his bedroom door, and it was nudged open a crack by Nathan,
who occupied the other room of their small apartment.
"Hey, Amir," said Nathan, poking his head through the crack. "It's three
AM... the guys and I are putting pizzas in the oven. Do you want one for
you?"
Amir rocked his chair onto its back legs and considered. "Sure," he said
agreeably, and Nathan disappeared again.
Kafira, sprawled on his bedspread, raised her head languidly. ::You're going
to make yourself sick if you keep these schedules. Don't you ever get
sleepy?:: she scolded him half-heartedly. They'd had this conversation
before.
"Only at lunchtime," he responded aloud, although she had merely spoken to
him mentally. His chair crashed back down onto all four legs once more, and
the steady clatter of fingers of a keyboard resumed.
::I wish you spent this much time looking for the Angelus Senshi:: Kefira
tried again.
This time, she was barely rewarded with a grunt. "What do I care about
that?" he demanded after a few more moments, though his tone was
absent-minded as though he had stopped listening long ago. "There's me...
what do I need with others? I'm not doing anything important as it is. It's
really... kind of... boring." He furrowed his brow, not because of the
boredom being a senshi inspired in him-- rather, because he was
concentrating on a tricky line of coding.
::Once there are more of you, I'm sure it will be interesting:: said Kefira
encouragingly.
"Go out and find 'em yourself, then," said Amir. With satisfaction, he typed
out the last few keystrokes, then saved the file. "But for now, I'm going to
get some food. I'm hungry." He scratched Kefira behind the ears and bounded
the stairs noisily. "Save some food for me," he called.
Kefira growled softly to herself. This wasn't what she had in mind at all.
Why couldn't she have found someone a little more interested in becoming
involved? It only hardened her resolve to find the others. Then, maybe, he'd
realize his duties and take them seriously.
Emiko: Loved the writing!
****
Will you allow your senshi to be killed? If not, why?
Yes, if I'm done with him or tired of him. No, if there's no reason to and someone just wants a victim.
Emiko: Good answer. Anyway, only thing I can see is wanting to know more about that demon.
Perdix: That's a revision.
Rach: The descriptions were WONDERFUL! Everything had reason enough, and it was well written and well thought of obviously. Just change Senshi to Kamen, and you've got it made! Percy, the suggestion for Em-chan from me please!
Percy: ACCEPT ACCEPT ACCEPT!
Emiko: Well, then, accepted with revision. But a Kamen is a senshi! Kamen are male senshi and Sailors are female... ::bops Rach on the head::
Perdix: Tell us about the demon and Amir's hair and we'll let you in. And keep your cat away from me.
