OK, I hope this is better, I added a lot to History and Family, and tweaked Personality too. Location: Roanoke Senshi: Rigel, Astra Senshi of Support Name: Troy Warrant Meaning: Troy: Foot Soldier Warrant: Justification/Trust/Authorization Age: 20 Birth date: June 8 Astrological Sign: Gemini Blood Type: O Family: Younger brothers, Eric and Bobby His brothers look a lot like him at their age. They have oval faces, high cheekbones and thin lips. They have light brown goldenish somewhat deepset eyes, with the family’s slanted eyebrows, and light brown hair that is extemely thick Bobby has somewhat more of a broad forehead and his eyes tend more to grey than Eric’s. Eric is the overacheiver of the family, he is into sports and is popular in school, and Bobby is shy and quiet and has some self esteem issues. Eric is 12 and Bobby is 11. His mother is Barbara Palmer. She is 38, having Had Troy when she was 19. She is 5’4 and 198lb. She has light brown hair striking blue eyes, and a fair complexion that burns easily. She has an oval face with a wide forehead. She has a tired out look, and is out of shape, she leaves the house only when she has to and lives in her own little world consiting of religion, soap operas and denial about her husbands infidelity. She is out of touch with Troy, their conversations consisting mostly of generic questions and answers like, how was school, and just fine. She also nags him about chores, beleiving that this means being an active parent. She is a pushover for the younger boys, letting them do practically whatever they want, but mostly she expects them to take care of themselves in terms of getting lunch and rides to little league, and expects Troy to keep them out of trouble around the house. His father is Archie Warrant, the second or thrird most popular guy on the high school football team. He is 6’0 and has greying, formerly dark thich hair cut short. He is strong, beefy with broad shoulders, from his physically demanding job and active youth. He has slanted eybrows over deepset dark brown eyes. He is clean shaven, and is overall, in very good shape for his 42 years. He has no aunts, uncles or cousins on his mother’s side, and 4 uncles, 2 aunts and a multitude of cousins much younger than him on his fathers. He sees these mostly on holidays and family events like his grandmother’s birthday party. He generally thinks that they are a bunch of spoiled brats, with the exception of his youngest aunt Katy’s two kids, Elizabeth and Tyler who are 6 and 7 and who he babysits for for money every once in a while. His fathers mother is still alive and chain-smokes menthol cigarettes. She always bugs him to get into sports, which he did not like, and she always treated him 3 years younger than he really was. She is the matriarch of the family, and tends to favor the boys. She intimidated Troy with her loud voice and unpleasant smell when he was younger, but since middle school he just avoided her because she always wanted to lecture him about stuff and make him do chores. His mother’s parents are both still alive, but he hardly ever sees them as they are in a retirement home in another town and his father will never agree to visit them. School: High school Dropout Likes: Fast food, all night parties, political riots and demonstrations, card tricks (of which he knows a lot), singing along to buttrock, sketch comedy, folk rock bands, old sci-fi books, drunken male bonding, drunken male-female bonding (if you know what I mean) poetry, Dislikes: Being called white trash, television, especially programs featuring unrealistically attractive people, bigots of all kinds, being insulted by children, holes in his socks (which are a constant problem), getting kicked out of restaurants, bars or other public places and people who think they are too cool to talk to him. Fav. Food: cheese fries Hated Food: nigiri sushi he tried it once and almost puked. Fav. Subject: economics/politics Hated Subject: philosophy Color: Yellow Hobbies: drinking, music, reading vintage science fiction, surfing the Internet, customizing his clothing. Aspirations: He unrealistically hopes to change the world by ending racism, sexism, and homophobia etc one person at a time. He also unrealistically hopes to be president. Besides that he hopes to get along day to day. In general, he avoids aspirations because he doubts his ability to achieve goals. Gemstone: Galena (lead crystal) History: Parents met at Eastern Oregon State College where he was after a history degree and playing football and she was studying English and looking for a husband. They got married and moved to his hometown where he got a job assistant managing a lumberyard. This is what was going on when Troy was born. Troy’s father soon started having an affair with a friend of his brother, a high school student who must not have known any better. At first he tried to keep his infidelity discreet, but eventually he stopped caring and began to be seen all over town with his frequently young mistresses. Troy’s mother retreated into religion and soap operas, staying at home most of the time. With neither of his parents taking an active interest in his life, Troy grew up for the most part unsupervised. His mother’s idea of discipline was to tell him he would be damned to hell for not minding. When hid did something extra bad, his father would beat him with a wooden spoon. When he was seven years old, his mother became pregnant and had his brother Eric. The next year, she had another boy, Robert (Bobby). Troy frequently babysat his brothers, but was resentful of the fact that he had to do so. In elementary school he did well although as an introspective young child he was never very popular with the other kids. As he got older, he got wilder, and built up a daredevil reputation. He was the guy who got payed three dollers to eat mustard packets. The teachers always said he didn’t apply himself, and they were right, but he kept slipping by. So, by middle school he had realized that no one expected much of him. In response, he made less and less of an effort. By his sophomore year in high school, he was barely attending. He had a group of punk rock friends who would cut school and go smoke pot or play pinball, steal alcohol from their parents and get in fights and go to concerts. His role models were activist punks like Rage Against the Machine, and his group of friends justified their truancy with the idea that public education was useless capitalist propaganda. His parents didn’t like his mohawk but he managed to cover up his absences from his parents pretty well. He helped his dad outt on the weekends for pocket money, and occasionally did the dishes for his mom, And they didn’t pay attention to his personal or academic life until they found out that he hadn’t been going to school for almost 2 years and certainly wouldn’t be able to graduate. At this point, his dad beat him up pretty good, and he left. He was 17. He had a good friend a year older than him called Adam who had managed to get into Virginia Tech. So, he stole some money and hopped the hound to Roanoke, where Adam let him stay in his dorm room. Amazingly, no RA’s figured out he wasn’t a student. (I know someone who did this. Its possible) Meanwhile, Troy got a job pumping gas, and partied every night with the cool over 21 college kids. He made some friends, and a couple of enemies. Unfortunately, Adam was overly distracted by all the fun and flunked out. Adam went back to Oregon to live with his parents for a while and then join the army but Troy said “NO WAY”. He got a cheap apartment, but he was depressed. He started drinking way too much and he got fired from his job. He just didn’t care about anything and drank out of of self destructiveness and boredom. He got kicked out of his apartment and lived on the street for a while. He got the nickname Stick and met some other kids. Eventually, two other guys who he knew as Robin and Smarty invited him to squat with them at an abandoned apartment below street level. You had to crawl through a broken window to get in, but it was dry and warm, and he got to know Robin and Smarty a lot better. They were alot like him, Robin was a former transient hippie from Pennsylvania, and Smarty was an activist who had grown up in Roanoke and was homeless by choice. During this time between his 19th and 20th years, Troy got his head together and started to think about life and things he had always taken for granted. He began to be more serious. Life seemed to be not so bad after all. He still went to college parties but he didn’t drink as much. He made money to live off collecting cans, selling drawings, betting on and selling magic cards, getting stuff at thrift shops and dumpsters and selling it on e-bay, and begging. He thought about getting a job, but wasn’t really into it, although he didn’t totally reject the idea. He started to spend time in the library and went online fairly often at libraries or coffee shops and became well informed on a variety on non-academic subjects including religion/spirituality, social justice issues, and popular music. Personality: Troy, as a typical gemini has two sides. One of these is a quiet serious side. He doesn’t talk much until you get to know him, He is very loyal to his friends, but always ready to tell them when they are wrong too. He is very practical and not interested in anything that’s too much in the mind, or that isn’t realistic. He is very sincere and will lie only when it is absolutely necessary. He also goes through moody periods, that at their worst become serious bouts of depression, and at the other end of the spectrum manifest as simply bitching about stuff he doesn’t like. However, he doesn’t usually get too mad about stuff. Even in rare instances when he does get angry about things, he is unlikely to yell at people or get in fights, although he is happy to debate issues as long as it doesn’t get emotional. He wants others to give him the benefit of the doubt, and so he conciously tries to give other people the same credit for ability and good intentions. If he decides he doesn’t like someone though, they don’t stand much of a chance to change his mind. When he puts his mind to something, he never lets go and has often been found beating very very dead horses. If he thinks something is a bad idea he will abandon it but if its something important he just doesn’t give up. Another side of him is intense and fun loving. This is the part that will do anything for a laugh, and makes others want to do the same. It’s the part that wants to be president and the part that makes him care so passionately about social justice. Its the part that is good with kids, and makes him love cute animals. This is the part that his close friends know and love, with a loud open mouthed laugh, and a million cool things to do. It’s also the part that makes everyone want him at their parties. He is a little sensitive to people who make fun of him for being poor/ homeless/a dropout. He doesn’t understand why people can’t respect his choice to live how he does. He is also easily angered by people who don’t appreciate what they have. He feels bitter that both of these things applied to his parents. They looked down on anyone who they thought was worse off than them and they also took what they had for granted. He misses his family, but at the same time feels glad to be gone. He hopes someday to go back and get to know his brothers more. Appearance: With his short hair, and wiry buld, Troy looks like the average streetkid, but with some distinctive features. He is definitely thin, but with proportionally broad shoulders from helping his dad move lumber around as a young man. He has an oval face, high cheekbones and thin lips. He has mud colored brown gray eyes, toped by slanted (but not Mr. Spockesque) eyebrows, and a roundish nose. He has light brown hair that he keeps short (a couple inches max) because it is so thick, and he has been known to dye it unconventional colors. His left ear is pierced and he wears a small silver colored hoop with a ball. He has a T tattooed on his left shoulder and a bread tag tattooed on his left forearm. Both of these were the result of a friend who was getting a tattoo license and being up too late drinking. (The T stands for Troy). He has medium skin, and he tries to eat a balanced diet, even if it is a little random and not very much. He also tries to bathe fairly frequently, whether at friend’s houses, or at the local pool. Despite this, he is pretty darned skinny and he breaks out occasionally. Agnyone could tell that he’s not a middleclass student in a bohemian phase. Usually wears beat up jeans, army pants, or in the summer shorts, and a T-shirt. He has a gray hooded sweatshirt that he almost always wears and a spiky belt that a girl once gave him. He generally wears tennis shoes or boots. Sometimes he will find some crazy item of clothing and wear it constantly for a couple of weeks and the get tired of it. An example was a Hawaiian shirt with a hole in the back. Fuku: He has gray loose flannel trousers and a green shirt covered by a chinese syle coat with a high collar and fastened with big hooks and eyes down the front. The coat is light green and canary yellow made of odd shapped patches and pieces of ribbon and yellow leather. It reaches just below his waist. He also has a mask that is metallic yellow and has three points on the upper corners. It only covers from his nose to his forehead. He has black boots with round metallic yellow buckles on the sides. Transformation: Troy has a stick of polished wood. It looks like a chopstick. He sometimes carries it behind his ear, sometimes in his pocket. It is very strong and he can’t break it. When he transforms he holds it in his left hand with the ends sticking out the sides. He holds it above his head hooks up and yells “Rigel Astra Power Transform!” Yellow light comes out the ends of the stick and a circle of white light comes up from the ground trailing silver and gold sparkles (but masculine sparkles) the circle moves up his body to his hand and the sparkles obscure his body. When the circle reaches his hand it gets smaller and disappears in a flash, and the sparkles fade away to reveal him in his fuku. His tattoos have disappeared and his hair is bright yellow and his eyes are light green. He then turns around and his mask goes on (no one ever sees it, it appears when he isn’t facing you, even if he is surrounded) and his stick gets much longer about broomstick length. He can then use it to do his powers or to whack people. He ends holding his long stick with two hands. One end of the stick is on the ground. His right leg is behind and his weight is on his left. He sports a saucy smile. Powers: Rigel energy pedestal: Rigel holds his stick in both hands and says “Rigel Energy Pedestal Hooooo! (Like Lion –O) and a horizontal ray comes out of the horizontal stick and goes into the ground. Then, an energy pedestal comes out of the ground (looks like a pillar made of yellow light growing out of the ground as just wide enough for the target o stand on) and lifts the target up in the air. It lifts them faster or slower depending on his energy. He has about 20 feet in him; he can’t lift anyone higher than that. Or he could lift them 10 feet twice, or 5 feet 4 times etc. He can also make the pillar go away if he makes his stick vertical. It disappears faster the more energy he has. If Rigel runs away, the pedestal will return to the ground like an elevator. So basically. This attack makes the target go up in the air. If the target is unlucky he will fall down. The target can’t chase Rigel unless he/she wants to jump. The target (depending on height) can’t see everyone on the ground so well when he/she is way up high. Rigel support drop: Rigel taps one end of his stick on the ground and says “Rigel Support Drop Hoooooo! (I really like the thundercats) And the ground ceases to be supportive. People sink into it. Things sink into it (Not a good thing indoors) This takes a while to work, about 1.5 minutes from being totally solid to being like wet mud. The ground is a maximum 4 feet deep and Rigel has to be concentrating the whole time for this to work. If he is interrupted in 1 minute, it will belike regular mud or .5 minutes it will just be kind of smooshy wet ground (easy to slip on, you’d leave tracks etc. Rigel, and anyone touching him, or anyone with his stick will not sink. An island of solidity will follow them around. This effect will last for a maximum of 5 minutes. The ground will not harden around anyone’s body, people will be able to climb out, when the effect ends (but they will be covered in dirt!). The effect takes place in a 10-foot radius around where Rigel is when he originally creates the effect. The weaker he is, the less deep the effect is and the shorter the time it works. He can only do this once without sleeping and eating. Rigel support withdraw: For this one Rigel points his stick at the target and says “Rigel Support Withdraw”. (This is based on the fact that an individual only exists within a supportive community of others). The target believes that everyone around is laughing at him/her. Unless they are a very independent spirit, they begin to feel embarrassed and self conscious, they are clumsier, and less decisive. This effect only lasts for seconds. It can be done many times without tiring Rigel out, but after the first time the target will be less likely to respond. Guardian: No guardian Explanation: This star comes from an Arabic phrase meaning left foot of the central one. Rigel means, basically, foot. It is in the constellation of Orion, and appears as Orion’s foot. It is one of the brightest stars in the sky. One of the most important things that feet do is support the body. The power base I am using is therefore Support. This can mean many things. Obvious support, like being held up. Emotional support, or even a concept behind child support, the things one needs to survive. Since Rigel is such a literal star, not coming from any particular personality, I like to think of him as representing the basics, the simplest elements on which the rest of the world is based. The meek and the downtrodden so to speak. These include among other things the working class, natural resources, and the ground. I picked it because it is subtle, and I like that. It is also versatile, and ubiquitous. I like the idea of a senshi who, rather than fighting high profile battles, pulls the rug out from under his enemies. Writing Sample: A shadow moved in the ally. The violet light of sunset filtered down through the buildings, changing the faded dumpsters green to the near organic moldy color of leftovers long forgotten. The shadow moved again and as it extricated itself from under a paper bag, it revealed itself as a yellow kitten. It was skinny and moved gingerly amongst the bottles, paper, and other trash. Poking its head behind a flattened cardboard box leaned up against the wall it sniffed and then scrambled out of the way as the box fell forward, revealing a broken window. On the other side of the window, Troy’s room was bathed in lavender light. Troy snuffled and yawned and looked around. Even though it was getting warmer out lately, he still preferred to sleep in the afternoons so that the cold of late night wouldn’t keep him from sleep. He got up and stretched and heard his neck pop. He rubbed his fuzzy head and grabbed the jacket he had been using as a pillow. He then sprung up to the top of the old sofa and from there with expertise born of practice out the window. Down the ally he went at a quick walk, after he stopped to pet the little cat that meowed him a greeting. Turning the corner onto the street, he nearly ran over his roommate. “Hey, where do you think you’re going?” Asked Robin, regaining his composure. “Goin' to Rachel’s, gotta shower before the show,” he answered “Oh, What show?” There was a confused look on Robins face. This particular confused look seemed to have set up house on Robins face. It left only occasionally to run errands. “Whaddya mean ‘what show’. True Thomas is playing at the Cat, you know that –don’t say you’re not coming.” “Oh yeah” Robin said, remembering. The confused look took a momentary vacation. “That’s tonight? Shit, I’m broke.” “Don’t worry, Rach will get you in.” Troy was very pleased to have befriended a waitress at the Red Cat, the best pub around for the Celtic Punk he liked. They had shows every Friday and Wednesday. Troy didn’t go every week, he was underage after all and didn’t want to push his luck, but Rach was pretty good about sneaking him in the back when one of his favorites was playing, and True Thomas was one of his favorites; just a local band but rockin’ none the less. Robin asked him to wait while he went and got his stuff and so he did, leaning up against the graffitid brick wall of the old building he called home and watching the people go by. It was a warm evening and attractive couples were out in force. This made him think again of Rachel. She was definitely cool, and definitely hot, but… His relationships never seemed to work out right, and he didn’t want to jeopardize his friendship, or the pub scenario, but he could still daydream. Ah Rachel! Long legs, beautiful hair, soft skin. Her eyes…her lips! “Stick, Stick!” Reality came rushing back. “Man, I thought you were in a hurry” “Um, yeah” mumbled Troy “Lets go.” Questionnaire Your Name: Laura H.
