Legend Of The Mount

Once upon a time, the angels of Euphoria were one speaking terms with their creations. Of course, this was also when they were actually around to speak and take an interest in things, before the war between Tradkiel and Lucifer, before the angels left. During this time of peace and prosperity, the angels often walked on Euphoria and the rulers of the various kingdoms could easily seek their counsel. And whether they availed themselves of this opportunity or not, the angels and the rulers always had a bit of a chat every year, gathering in a secret location over the course of a week.

See? Those portals were bloody useful, weren’t they? In fact, the portal system was often the only way for a royal to access the meeting place, a massive underground cave system beneath the center of Zadkiel. High, arching ceilings, walls dotted with crystals, natural formations of rock that resembled chairs, the place was well-suited to hold meetings of such import and solemnity. No one was sure if the angels had created it specifically for its purpose or if it had been formed by some happy natural coincidence; the Mount, as it was most often called, had simply always been.

Slowly, however, the regular meetings slowed. Fewer and fewer angels and royals came to the Mount; instead, they remained in their own kingdoms for the occasional discussion. Then, one day, the Mount was very suddenly, very silently empty and less substantial than a dream. War was in the air and soon the angels and their kingdoms had chosen sides, tearing the world apart with battle. Not another living being would set foot in the Mount for hundreds of centuries and it became a myth, a legend, a fantasy.
